The five-year-old had rotten teeth and an ulcer in his eye.

But now she has been taken in by Federica Pasari who says they were made for each other.

Kato even manages a small cry of appreciation.

But his health problems worsened.

She now has a skin condition that is causing her face to bleed and her fur to fall out.

Federica, from Milton Keynes, Bucks, says insurers won’t cover pre-existing condition, so she is fundraising online.

She said, “Kato can’t meow but squeaks every once in a while.

Isobel McCarroll, from the charity, said: ‘We understand how worrying it can be to have a cat with a persistent illness.
