Cat show held in Barishal

Wearing expensive dresses and belts, around 40 domestic and foreign cats competed at a cat show in Barishal.

Abir Bin Mizan, the coordinator of the Persian Cat Society of Barishal, held a cat exhibition at a convention hall in the city on Friday.

He said: “My wife and I first started a group to bring cat lovers together and got a huge response in a short time. And finally, I held the first cat show in Barishal today. This exhibition is mainly organized to increase people’s love for cats.”

The cats also participated in various competitions and the winners took home prizes, he said.

District Animal Resources Officer Dr Nurul Alam said the unique cat show is also part of the entertainment. At the same time, it will make people kinder to animals, he added.

Jeba Maria Ahana, a participant in the exhibition, brought her three cats named Shakib Khan, Apu Biswas and Bubli – which explains “the current trend”.
