BUCKINGHAM, Fla. — A dog and a cat died after a fire ripped through a Buckingham home on Sunday night.
Firefighters from the Fort Myers Shores Fire Department (FMSFD) responded to the Keygrass Lane home at approximately 7:39 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire conditions in the garage and in front of the house.
All six residents inside the house escaped unharmed. Unfortunately, the dog and the cat did not come out in time.
Crews were able to contain the fire to one side of the house before it spread.
The fire is currently under investigation.
