After a landslide victory over Wales, Gareth Southgate’s side will face Senegal in the Round of 16.
The Three Lions take on Senegal at Al Bayt Stadium in Qatar on Sunday at 7pm – in a bid to book their place in the quarter-finals of the World Cup. England’s wins over Iran and Wales sandwiched a goalless draw with the United States as they topped Group B with seven points.
Despite concerns over their performance against the United States, Germany and Belgium’s failure to emerge from the group stage served as a reminder that tournament football is not won in the group stage.
However, as the tournament progresses to the knockout stages, it is now a win or fail situation for Southgate’s side – but which starting XI will the England manager name for the clash with the Senegal? And will there be former Sunderland players?
Here is a ‘leaked’ English line-up based on various reports regarding Southgate’s selection for the Senegal clash:
1. Jordan Pickford
Pickford was Southgate’s No.1 choice throughout this tournament, but also at the 2018 World Cup and the delayed European Championship last summer.

2. Kyle Walker
Walker started against Wales on Tuesday and has been solid as he continues his recovery from injury.

3. Harry Maguire
Despite his club form, Maguire has become a trusted member of England’s Southgate first team and has impressed in Qatar so far.

4. John Stones
The Manchester City defender had Southgate’s support throughout the tournament and kept two clean sheets in a row.
