A rescue operation is underway to rescue a cat that has been stuck in a tree for at least three days.
Dina, a three-year-old moggie, disappeared seven days ago from her home in a cul-de-sac near Drayton High Road, Hellesdon.
Lisa Hudson discovered her beloved pet got stuck in a large tree near her house on Monday (September 19).
But despite two attempts by firefighters today, she remains out of reach of helping hands.
Ms Hudson, 46, said: “We called her every day but couldn’t find out where she got to until Monday when we saw she got stuck in a tree in front of the main road.
“I think she must have been spooked by something and went up the tree – we’ve tried everything but can’t get her down.
“She’s not normally an adventurous cat, so it was a real shock to find her there.”
There have been two attempts by the Norfolk Fire Department to save Dina so far, but so far they have failed.
“It’s been a nightmare,” she said, adding, “She’s meowing constantly, it’s horrible but we can’t reach her.
“A fire crew climbed a ladder this morning but climbed three branches higher.
“They came back at 4pm and tried to offer her some food and gently sprinkle her with water, but she just went higher and deeper into the branches.
“I would go up myself but they said I couldn’t in case I fell.
“Firefighters said she still looked healthy but just didn’t want to come near them. Everyone was supportive and builders working nearby kept an eye on her. .”
Ms Hudson hopes this will be the third time the crews have returned, but this time on an even bigger scale.
“I hope they can get her down tonight. I’m heartbroken and very exhausted, I’m staying with her late in the evening trying to get her down but she won’t. She has l exhausted.
“Hopefully we can save her tonight and get her straight to the vet.”
