Peugeot’s Inception concept unveils itself as ‘a big cat ready to pounce’ at CES 2023

“It’s electric and electrifying,” Jackson said. The Peugeot Inception Concept is a four-wheel drive vehicle thanks to two small electric motors, one at the front and the other at the rear. With nearly 680 horsepower (500 kilowatts) of total power, it can hit 62 miles per hour (mph) in less than three seconds.

Next-generation Hypersquare cockpit

The Inception offers a dynamic driving experience and a new, more user-friendly i-Cockpit, thanks to its innovative Hypersquare control system. The video game-inspired Hypersquare control system replaces the traditional steering wheel with digital electric controls and steer-by-wire technology. “With Hypersquare, your fingers drive,” Jackson described.

The Stellantis technology platform STLA SmartCockpit and STLA AutoDrive are also included in the next-generation i-Cockpit, enabling Level 4 autonomous driving.

To provide a different cabin experience when driving is delegated, Hypersquare retracts and a huge panoramic screen unfolds from the floor to “work, rest or play on the go”, according to Jackson.

She described Peugeot’s Inception concept as a showcase of the technologies and techniques the brand will deploy to reduce its carbon footprint by more than 50% by 2030. Eventually, it plans to “become completely zero carbon by 2038 “, she said.
