Review: ‘Cat + Gamer’ Vol. 2 – Kawai Overload

Chat + Player Flight. 2 | Writer, artist and cover artist: Wataru Nadatani | Translator: Zack Davisson

A single working woman who loves video games is now trending on Instagram with a page dedicated to her cute cat.

In her office, people wonder who she might be – she posts under a gender-neutral pseudonym – but get lost in the player details that stand out in the chat photos. Since she only orders takeout and her room looks messy when Musubi is playing at home, they all believe she’s a cat-obsessed male co-worker!

Nothing could be further from the truth.

She is known in the office as a bit of a recluse because she has rejected any invitations to engage socially with her colleagues. Also, she never mentioned that she was the owner of the account of the cute cat in a tuxedo.

At home, Riko learns a lot about cats (especially her own, of course) and continues to use her gaming experience to measure her progress. When Musubi grows up, for example, she thinks he is progressing.

The cat even has a special section where he can explain or re-enact how he experienced each cute moment. Musubi thinks that Riko is a giant, gentle cat who takes care of him, and that’s why he stops him from playing; he feels that Riko is too slow for her own good!

Without a doubt, the combination of a player and their pet cat is always the cutest thing ever. My child loves another manga related to cats called Crazy plum! Have you heard of this?
