While Archie Comics had no problem pitting its main characters against werewolves, zombiesand Afterthe realm of ghosts and spectersits always been more the domain of Sabrina the Teenage Witch…and his cursed cat, Salem. Now the feline familiar will have its own chance to fight the forces of darkness when the one-shot special Chilling Adventures of Salem is coming later in October, and you can get a preview here.
The comedy is coming of the artist Dan Schoening and writer Cullen Bunn, who imagined the premise while encountering its own mystery. “One day as I was going out for my morning walk, I noticed a strange number of missing animal posters on the lampposts“, Bunn said in a statement provided to i09. “Lamppost after lamppost. Then I saw a lamp post that had no signs at all. The tape was there, but someone had torn down the posters. I had this vision of someone walking around tearing up posters of missing animals. It was just a strange image that came to my mind. I didn’t know why anyone would do such a thing, but my mind took me in dark directions.
In this preview, Salem discovers the person removing the missing animal posters and investigates, but… “YYou know what they say about curiosity and cats, after all,” Bunn said..
Chilling Adventures of Salem hits comic book stores tomorrow, October 12.
