Shovelers show up to get Bobcat Stadium ready for Cat-Griz game

BOZEMAN — The students are working hard and elbow grease at Bobcat Stadium to make things presentable for Saturday’s game. But, this is not free labor we are talking about.

“We get paid $20 an hour,” said Ian Waldecker, an MSU senior who had been working at the stadium since 10 a.m.

“We’re just cleaning up the stadium for all the fans on Saturday,” Waldecker said.

Waldecker says the salary is a plus, but he would always be there to help regardless.

“I think it’s always a good day to be a bobcat, so if they need help shoveling snow, I’m always happy to do it,” Waldecker says.

Dozens of students were standing in the stands on Wednesday, November 16, shoveling after receiving 3 to 6 inches of snow the previous night.

Dakota Pint works for the MSU Athletic Center and thankfully says they have a lot of helping hands.

“The volunteers came, the footballers were there this morning, even the coaches,” says Pint. “So there are a lot of people from the community coming to help us.”

Students can go to the box office on Thursday or pre-register with Justin Lammi at 406-994-7117 or [email protected]

Current student employees will only need to bring photo ID. Students who are not university employees will be required to complete employment paperwork and provide photo ID and work eligibility documents, such as a birth certificate or social security card .

Excavators must park on the Bobcat Stadium grounds, but may not leave their vehicle overnight. Dress warmly. Shovels will be provided.

“It takes a team to beat the Griz every year and I think we’ll be ready,” says Waldecker.
