SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Behind a pair of career-best rounds on Saturday, Arizona Men’s Golf had an under-12 round in the second round of the Maui Jim Intercollegiate. Senior Chase Sienkiewicz matched his career low with a round of 65, which included five birdies after the turn. His 5-under performance tied for the fourth-lowest round of the day. Second year Jackson Norwich shot a 67 Saturday at Mirabel Golf Club which also scored the best round of his college career.
“We wanted to make the necessary adjustments to post better scores on Saturday, and we were able to do that,” the head coach said. jim anderson. “Our scores were eight strokes better today on the back nine than yesterday, which is a key moment in our day. Hats off to Chase and Jackson for their career rounds, and I’m very proud of the performance. of all our guys today. Now it’s just about continuing to improve and shooting even better scores in tomorrow’s final.”
The Wildcats were listed on par-4s at the Mirabel Golf Club as they amassed 12 on those holes on Saturday to climb to fifth place in par-4s for the tournament.
Start of Sunday’s final, junior Sam Sommerhauser is the top Wildcat in the individual standings tied for ninth place at under 8. Sienkiewicz and Chaz Aurilia round out the Arizona golfers in the top 30 after the first two rounds.
The three teams immediately ahead of Arizona are separated by three moves before the final round. The Cats start at 8:40 a.m. Sunday alongside Washington and Georgia Tech.
