The Ora Funky Cat, a small electric car, will also be launched in Germany in January 2023. Following the partnership announced in August 2022 by parent company Great Wall Motors (GWM) with European car dealership group Emil Frey of Switzerland, the Funky Cat is the first model to also come to Europe.

A companion in all life situations, the Ora Funky Cat from the Chinese group Great Wall Motors (GWM) intends to mark its arrival with a high level of safety and comfort such as a massage function.
The Funky Cat aims to combine a retro-futuristic design with a European look and relies on smart features. Thanks to facial recognition, the car recognizes you and thus plays your favorite music and adjusts the interior climate.
Videos and TV shows can be viewed on a second large screen, while voice control is also possible via the “Hello ORA” command. This makes it possible, for example, to open the trunk or the panoramic glass roof by voice command. With 5 stars in the Euro NCAP crash test, the electric compact car is also very safe and offers a five-year warranty with no mileage limit.
Three variants in Germany
So far only the manufacturer’s UK website provides technical details. According to her, the Ora Funky Cat measures 4,235 x 1,825 x 1,603mm and comes with a 171hp front-mounted engine – at least in the case of the First Edition.
According to the manufacturer’s press release, three variants of the electric car will arrive in Germany. They all rely on 171 hp and differ in battery capacity. The entry-level model has a capacity of 48 kWh, while the other two variants, the Funky Cat and the Funky Cat GT, have a capacity of 63 kWh.
The top speed is 160 km/h, but the manufacturer does not yet name an official range according to WLTP. In China, however, up to 420 km should be possible with the larger battery or around 300 km with the smaller battery. The consumption of European models is between 16.5 and 16.8 kWh/100 km, depending on the manufacturer.
Price and availability
The Ora Funky Cat electric compact car is set to launch in Germany as early as January 2023. The €38,990 base version aims to impress with comprehensive entertainment and assistance systems; the manufacturer has not yet named the prices for the higher equipment lines.
