Vancouver comedians fundraise to help local cat

The cat’s owner planned to sell his car to pay for the surgery.

Vancouver comedians come together to save a local kitty.

Local comedian Brett Martin’s cat Stanley has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called mast cell tumor. Martin planned to sell his car to pay for Stanley’s expensive and life-saving surgery, which the comedian could not otherwise afford.

When a group of Vancouver comedians got wind of the news, they decided to get together and help save the kitty by hosting a stand-up comedy night that will raise money for the surgery.

Alongside Brett Martin, Vancouver comedians Yumi Nagashima, Alex Mackenzie and others, many of whom have been featured on CBC and at prestigious comedy festivals Just For Laughs and Winnipeg Comedy Festival, will take to the stage, keeping audiences laughing people and will help Stanley.

The fundraising show, “Save Brett’s Cat,” will take place at the Loft Lounge on December 4 at 8 p.m. with all proceeds from ticket sales going to Stanley’s Operation. Any additional proceeds will go to BC SPCA.
